5 Ways to Show Love in Action February
Feb 14, 2022
Love is an action!

The older I get the more I hate those little conversation candy hearts. There comes a time in every adult's life where the conscious choice must be made to not consume chalk, even if it is only once a year!

Ah, but See's Candy is my favorite. Though not in the shape of hearts to represent the holiday, that box of Nuts and Chews makes me feel loved and understood EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Yes, yes, love is an action, but it's also the right action at the right time. Knowing those around you and what makes them feel the most loved is how you show the love of God. God's love is the only love that will never fail us and will fulfill us completely.

So under the disclosure of everyone is different and you have to be thoughtful, let me give you 5 great ways to show your love in action.

5 Ways to Show Your Love in Action:

1. Clean:

Seriously, anything. Clean anything. If you have a spouse who likes things cleaned a certain way, EVEN clean it their way. Love will be all over the place! You don't ever have to clean up love! ;)

2. Do:

There is something that whoever you are trying to love on wants to do. They want to hike or have time to paint. Maybe your loved one wants to go to see a play or take a trip. DO SOMETHING and make it fun!

3. Listen:

Nothing says "not loving" like talking over people, waiting to speak and not taking time to hear the POV of the person who is talking. Learning to listen is a skill believers should have as we are told to put others needs before their own.

4. Give:

Give your time. Give of your money. Give of your tacos...no seriously that last bite of something yummy is the best...which leads me to...

5. Pick the right food:

Knowing people's favorite foods is one of my favorite things. I wish I had a spreadsheet (someone add this to my to do list!) of people's favorite things so I can send them something when I want them to know I'm thinking of them. My friends that love coffee and chocolate are the easiest. I also, as you may have guessed, run in circles where my people can be wooed with a taco or 2!  Whether you make a great dinner or take someone you appreciate out to lunch so much good fellowship can happen around food!

I will leave you with this, it is true that love never fails or perseveres, but only when you are using the biblical definition of love...

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

May our love look like God's definition. May Valentines day with all it's drama and foolishness draw us to the true love of our Father and let us love people well, the way God calls us to in His Word.

Thank you so much for sharing your time with us.
