How to keep family relationships strong with the demands of both life and ministry.
Aug 09, 2024

It’s about being intentional with your time and making rest and connection a priority in your life.

If you follow our blog, you likely know the first thing I’m going to say:

Honor Your Days Off.

  • Include a weekly day of rest in your life.
  • Schedule time annually to get away from the demands of everyday life with your family, spouse, and even by yourself if that refreshes you.

I can almost hear you laughing as I type this. It feels like an impossibly tall order in some seasons—and perhaps it is too much to expect to get all three of these in one year.

BUT…
If you consider
date nights for your marriage, a quick overnight or weekend away with friends (where you are not teaching or planning), and a one-week vacation each year, it’s possible!

Some people are better at this than others, but beyond regular rest, date nights, and fellowship with friends, here are other things to consider:

  • Family Game Nights
  • Family Pizza and Movie Nights
  • Family Walks
  • Family Hobbies
  • Nightly Family Dinners

It’s not about doing everything perfectly or all at once. It’s about being intentional with your time and making rest and connection a priority in your life. Start small, be consistent, and watch how these moments of rest and togetherness transform your relationships and well-being.

So, as you plan your days, weeks, and months, don’t forget to pencil in time for rest and family. It’s one of the best investments you can make for yourself and your loved ones!

Thank you so much for sharing your time with us. Cedar Creek Ministries is funded by Christians and churches who believe in the call to offer our leaders the double portion!  If you feel the desire to make sure all those men and women called to serve God in missions and ministry have everything they need to personally rest, restore family relationships and revive ministry vision, consider joining us in regular prayer and financial support!

We are called to follow Jesus and walk in a manner worthy of the calling.

Hearing the worst of everyone’s problems and circumstances can bring on an incapacitating exhaustion, making it difficult to walk out their calling.
